Volunteer Position Title: Volunteer

Description of duties and/or responsibilities: HopeLine is a 24-hour crisis line that provides listening and referral services to callers free of charge. Volunteers must complete 30 hours of classroom training before taking calls on their own. Volunteers cover three four-hour shifts per month. Teen TalkLine volunteers must be aged 22 or younger. They provide listening services to teen callers and must also complete 30 hours of classroom training. Teen TalkLine is open Monday through Friday from 4pm to 8pm. PhoneFriends are volunteers that handle elementary school-aged callers. They share jokes and listen to concerns. PhoneFriends is open from 3pm to 6pm Monday through Friday. PhoneFriends are required to complete a 90-minute training course.

What are the time requirements and or special skills needed for this position: Anyone can volunteer; all training is provided. HopeLine workers are trained on how to handle calls concerning loneliness, depression, substance abuse, suicide, interpersonal problems and other situations. Volunteer Position Title: On-site counselor, On-call Counselor, Hospital Responder, Court Advocate, Child Advocate, Adult or Children's Group Facilitator, Adult Advocate, Administrative/Special Projects Associate, Speaker's Bureau Adult or Youth Presenter.  Internships are available.

Description of duties and/or responsibilities: Interact is a private, non-profit United Way agency that provides safety and support services to victims and survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. Volunteers provide crisis counseling, act as advocates and promote the message of Interact through the positions listed above. Volunteers are treated as professionals and service requires a substantial commitment.

What are the time requirements and or special skills needed for this position: 50 hours of training are required.  Volunteers must apply, be interviewed and go through training before beginning work. Volunteers should be dependable, compassionate and looking for a challenge.  Please call for more information.
